Upgrades

The Harbour upgrade is live on mainnet

Parallel execution for independent transactions, a 30% cut in median fees and a new fee market for busy programs.

Fibre-optic and network cables plugged into rack hardware, close up.

Harbour activated at epoch 812 with 97.6% of stake running a compatible client. No blocks were missed during the transition.

What changed

  • Transactions that touch different accounts now execute in parallel.
  • Busy programs get their own fee lane, so one popular app cannot raise fees for everyone.
  • Median fees fell by 30% in the first week.

The upgrade was tested for eleven weeks on testnet, including two full rehearsals of the activation with validator operators.

The best upgrade is the one nobody notices. Harbour went live between two blocks.

What you need to do

Applications do not need to change. SDK 4.2 exposes the new fee lanes for programs that want to set their own priority fees.
